Q:What motivate you to engage in 3D printing?

3D printing has been popular in Taiwan for many years, but it hasn't in Kinmen. Wen Chuian is an interior designer. In order to let his customers preview the design clearly, it is important for him to use 3D printing displaying his works. Chih Ling is a jewelry designer. She displays her works and modify the size of ring and bracelet with 3D printing. Therefore, we would like to promote this technology. Then, everyone could exclusively design more cultural and creative products of Kinmen.

Q:Is there any interesting story of the start-up?

In the past year, there were many cultural and creative markets in Kinmen. With the opportunity to set up a stall, we met some amateurs who traditionally crafted. We were also commissioned to help them combine tradition and technological creativity. It was not only unexpected exchange and discuss, but also interesting interaction. In fact, we were sort of frustrated during printing the products. The local couldn't realize what handicrafts were so we tried our best to promote cultural and creative industries and expand the market.

Q:Do you intend outward-looking development?

We will promote the products and the main island Taiwan will be our target market. Then, we'll launch the creative products of Kinmen's culture and characteristics in Kinmen. Additonally, we are promoting Digital Maker so more Kinmen-characteristic products could be launched. For instance, the digital-made saucers are on sale. Assume that a lot of creative products are launched, we will design The Kinmen-made Product MIK Smile logo which is similar to The Taiwan-made Product MIT Smile logo. It would be the official certification aurthority so people could purchase the trustworthy products of Kinmen.

Q:Did you hit obstacles to develop 3D printing in the entrepreneurial stage?

Some people may rule out even scare 3D printing because of misunderstanding. To me, it is the toughest obstacle to overcome. We have to make people be willing to know 3D printing and understand what we are doing. In fact, 3D printing is simply print out something we want with a machine. Therefore, our core targets are helping people to understand 3D printing, combining technology with traditional crafts, and creating the value of our own products.

Q:One of your products is Kinmen-payphone-style smartphone holder. Are you planning to merge more elements of Kinmen’s culture into your products?

We have launched many products about Kinmen, such as Seven Man Army’s models, Fujian-style house containers, four color cards-style saucers, and so on. We also tried to use more advanced digital technologies to make products in different style. For example, we used laser engraving to make horse crab ornaments. We hope not only expand the youth market, but also preserve our traditional culture. Also, we want to make people aware of environmental and cultural issues in Kinmen.

Q:Please offer some suggestions to the youth who intend to start-up.

We are on the entrepreneurial journey, too. It's important to stick out each goal you want to move forward. If you only focus on interests when you start an undertaking, without any meaning or direction, it would be difficult to persist in your goal when you encounter difficulties or doubts. Certainly, there is no limit to launch a business. The most important is to think about your main purpose and find "the core of what you love." Talking to yourself constantly is also essential in your life. When you make a decision or decide to start-up, you have to ask yourself whether it is from sincere and love or not.
